How to print white text on dark-colored t-shirts? There are four methods for achieving this:
- DTF (Direct to Film): This method is the most common and cost-effective for a limited number of t-shirts. The design is initially printed onto a PET film using a DTF printer. This printer utilizes Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, and an additional white ink, allowing for the printing of multi-color images with a white underbase or white text using white ink alone. After printing, polymer powder is applied and cured using an oven. Then, the PET film with the mirrored image is placed onto the t-shirt and heat transferred using a heat press.
- DTG (Direct to Garment): With this method, a printer directly applies a multi-color image with a white underbase onto the garment. However, the garment requires pretreatment, and the ink used can be somewhat expensive.
- White Vinyl Sheets: Using a cutting plotter, it’s possible to cut letters or text from white vinyl sheets. After weeding out the excess material, the mirrored text is heat transferred onto the t-shirt.
- Screen Printing: This technique involves using a stencil to print the design. While making the stencil can be time-consuming, once it’s prepared, hundreds of identical images can be printed using white plastisol ink. After printing, the image is cured at high temperatures, resulting in a long-lasting and professional-looking print.
