Insert passport size photo to your Resume

Many educated job seekers find it difficult to insert their passport size photograph into their resume in Word format. The photograph may be in the (i) printed hardcopy or (ii) softcopy stored on Whatsapp. The photo received on their mobile in Whatsapp may be in the document mode or image mode. If it is in the image mode the resolution is found to be 72 dpi. The same photo in the document mode, the image shows the original resolution from the studio typically 300 dpi. Download the file and open the photo in Photoshop.

  1. Crop the photo to remove unwanted parts.
  2. Go to Image menu – Image size – Uncheck the resampling checkbox – Change the height to 4.4 cm.
Now the size of the photo is reduced and the resolution simultaneously increases.
  3. Save the photo on the Desktop.

If you have a printed photograph, you need to scan it with a flatbed scanner with a 300 dpi setting. Crop the photo removing unwanted parts, retaining 70% with the head region. Make sure the height is 4.4 cm.

  1. Open your Word format file.
  2. Go to the Insert Tab – Click on Insert Picture and select your photo from the Desktop.
  3. By default the photo will appear within the Resume
  4. If the photo is found to be difficult to move to the desired position, Right-click the photo – Hover the mouse over to Wrap Text.
  5. Observe the Wrap text options. Click on “In Front of Text
  6. Now your photo is in front of the text so that you can move your photo to the desired position.
