Nowadays people are very crazy to learn graphic designing regardless of having and aptitude in drawing, painting, calligraphy etc.., In olden days, it was not easy to become a graphic designer as they need skill in letter writing, drawing, calligraphy and painting. Highly skilled people made wonderful designs by hand without using computers.
Now making designs is very easy using computer templates. No special skills are needed just cut, paste and edit by replacing images based on the visualization of the computer operator. Most of the people learn Adobe Photoshop and instantly become a designer using rainbow colours as background, pasting white coloured letters with shadows and too much images placed irregularly without aesthetic sense, and proudly designates themself as a graphic designer. All the letters and images made in Photoshop is based on pixels and the design is stored in the form of JPEG format. If such designers is asked to make a business card design, the same system is followed. But after printing, the result of print quality of small letters will be not be desirable as the entire image is a combination of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. Such an image made up of pixels is referred to as Raster image.
But the professional graphic designers use Adobe InDesign, Coreldraw or Adobe Illustrator. To make a design where text and logos are created based on mathematical calculations, resulting in high quality print out. Here the text and the logos are referred to as vector graphics. The high resolution raster images preferably 300 dpi, can be mixed along with the vector graphics creating high quality designs.
